Development

America’s premier media watchdog, The Media Research Center, launched in 1987 with a handful of staff, few resources, and an ambitious mission: to create a media culture in America where truth and liberty flourish. Today, the MRC’s reputation as the preeminent go-to source of conservative news, news analysis and documentation of liberal media output is well-established. As one of the most trusted organizations in the conservative movement, the MRC fights to uphold truth in an era where “news” is increasingly the liberal narrative du jour. Consequently, we are engaged in an imperative battle against liberal media misinformation, which is designed to push a far-left agenda.  Integrating cutting-edge news monitoring capabilities with a sophisticated marketing operation that generates more than 330 million impressions weekly, the MRC advances conservative values, exposes and neutralizes liberal media bias through original reporting and news analysis, and serves as an indispensable educational resource. There is no other organization that does—or is capable of doing—the work that the MRC does.

On the cusp of growth with new, ambitious projects underway, the MRC is establishing a new regional major gifts program structure to tap opportunity, and we are hiring a Regional Major Gift Officer to bring our plans to fruition.  The Regional Major Gift Officer will foster, maintain and cultivate relationships with existing donors, while identifying, developing, and stewarding new funding relationships in their region.

MRC Major Gifts Program

The Media Research Center relies on a broad base of donor support to fuel our operations, and our Major Gifts program is essential to that effort.  In recognition of its importance, and as part of the expansion of this critical program, the MRC has redesigned its Major Gift program into a regional structure.  The Major Gift Officer will be expected to communicate a strong and inspirational case for support, and to build and expand a donor portfolio through:

  • Collaboration, strategy, and guidance from the Assistant Vice President of Development and Vice President of Development

  • Support from MRC Development staff, including prospect research, event planning, proposal writing, and more

  • Established, written presidential communication strategy for major donors, including President’s Reports and solicitations

  • Access to MRC Founder and President L. Brent Bozell III to strengthen donor cultivation and solicitation

MRC Culture

The MRC On TV blog is looking for FAST, dependable part-time bloggers who can commit to watching and monitoring weekly prime time entertainment shows (think “Big Bang Theory” or “Grey’s Anatomy”) as they air for liberal bias and turn in posts with video clips on tight deadlines. MRC Culture is socially conservative and the On TV blog documents anti-traditional incidents or forays into liberal propagandizing on popular TV shows. We need bloggers who are informed about current entertainment TV (whether it’s broadcast, basic and premium cable, or streaming) and keep up to date with social media and news about shows they monitor. This is a great fit for someone who's going to be watching TV anyway and has opinions about what they see. You know the power Hollywood has in changing our culture. You know exactly what they’re trying to do and you want to identify, expose and stop it.

Interested applicants please apply here or email alexamcoombs@gmail.com with the following:

  1. Cover letter-type intro paragraph or two that includes:
  2. Why you think you'd be a good fit for this job, how many hours a week you can work, what current shows or genres you're interested in monitoring, and suggestions for shows you've watched or heard about and why you think they should be covered for bias. Please also note any special subject expertise or experience (ex. military, guns, science, business/economics, education, religion, etc.)
  3. Resume
  4. Contact info for an editor you have submitted pieces to in the past
  5. Writing sample that shows off your conservative blogging talents in a way that will fit in with the MRC brand - definitely send one you've done on a TV show or other cultural/celebrity moment, if possible.
