The Watchdog with David Bozell
"Wow"
Elon Musk’s one-word verdict, posted in response to our latest special report on Apple News’ blackout of conservative media, says it all.
When he's not launching rockets, building satellites, or advancing AI with Grok, Elon runs X – the world's most influential real-time news and social media platform with 600 million users.
And he was impressed by MRC's pioneering work.
We've led the charge before: introducing the concept of media bias to America in 1987 and exposing Big Tech censorship 30 years later. In 2025, our IT team built the world's first Digital News Tracker to monitor curation on the Big Four News Apps – Apple News, Yahoo News, MSN, and Google News.
The results are undeniable and damning. MRC research has shown these apps — pre-loaded on smartphones, browsers, and computers reaching hundreds of millions daily — systematically handpick stories from left-leaning sources like The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, and Newsweek, while nearly erasing conservative voices such as the New York Post, Fox News, and Breitbart.
Our latest Apple News deep dive found zero right-leaning sources among the 620 stories highlighted in January.
In addition to Elon’s interjection, users posted comments like “You ever try and look at Yahoo.com? It’s ridiculously one-sided." "No idea how this was done, but I would love to see the results of a similar analysis on MSN" – and yes, we’ve done those, too. One user fired off a direct challenge to Apple’s CEO: “@Tim_Cook What’s up with this? I’m asking for millions of conservatives.”
MRC ignites national conversations and drives news cycles.
Elon Musk – the planet's most influential entrepreneur and innovator – may not have been aware of this structural tilt in these apps. We brought it to his attention. Over the years, he has shared and commented on our work dozens of times.
MRC isn't just an organization; it's a bold movement rallying Americans to demand truth and accountability across all media and the platforms that control the flow of information. Thank you for being part of it and for making it possible.
Take it easy,
David Bozell
