Writer - Digital Communications, Development, Marketing

The Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog, needs a news junkie to fill an essential position as Digital Communications, Fundraising, and Marketing Copywriter. Copywriter with a knack for what’s going on in the news and why it matters to the American public. The writer plays a pivotal role at the MRC, writing a wide range of organizational material from Annual Reports to President’s letters. The job includes writing web copy, email, and video/radio scripts to support fundraising and marketing activities for the Media Research Center. The writer also provides copy for promotional materials and drafts primary correspondence for major donors, prospects, and other MRC contacts. A qualified candidate must be a committed conservative and have both strong writing and interpersonal skills as well as a firm grasp of conservative issues, current events and media bias.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Drafting and editing web copy for MRC web and landing pages
  • Drafting and editing web and email copy for email and web-based fundraising efforts
  • Writing copy for web, print, and radio ads and other promotional materials
  • Writing President’s Reports and other Development communications including fundraising appeals
  • Writing and editing copy for grassroots campaigns including email, web copy, petitions, etc.
  • Writing planned giving letters to donors and prospects
  • Writing and editing Annual Report 
  • Writing video and radio scripts
Required Experience & Education: 
  • 5+ years of writing experience, preferably in journalism, public relations, development (fundraising), or grassroots/political
  • Experience with multiple types of writing and voice/tone essential
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Writing samples required

  • Able to change writing tone and voice depending on the type of messaging (i.e. grassroots vs. fundraising)
  • Ability to write in a clear, compelling manner

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments on time
  • Ability to write on deadline
  • Ability to write in several different voices – corporate, personal, casual, and more
  • Ability to write for a variety of audiences from grassroots activists to major donors
  • Willingness to coordinate with department heads to stay current on their issues and concerns
