Dargis worked her liberal politics into an aside about another recent movie, "Transformers": "Part of the reason I've strayed from discussing 'Rush Hour 3' is that there's not much to say about the actual movie. It's a generically crummy action flick. It's ugly. It's noisy. It's stupid. And unlike, say, 'Transformers,' which sells militarism alongside children's toys, it doesn't raise hackles, much less blood pressure."
"Transformers," remember, is a kids movie featuring flying robots
And check out the content warning at the end, probably written by Dargis, which elevates political correctness to the same level as the standard obscenity warnings that come with films: " It has racist stereotypes, mild violence and partly naked women."
Dargis's July 20 review of the comedy "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" carried the same warning: "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Lots of jokes about gay men, racist stereotypes, scantily clad women, drinking, smoking and cursing."
