The Boy Scouts don’t want to open their ranks to gays. How weird and out of the mainstream. Think of all the natural, coming-of-age experiences the Scouts are denying their members.
For instance, if they weren’t such cavemen, Bay State Scouts could join the Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Youth (BAGLY) and Boston [Gay] Pride in sponsoring a Valentine’s dance for LGBT teenagers. The gay-friendly social meetup group Sojust.org describes the event on its website :
“Boston Pride is hosting their very first Valentine’s Day Dance Party for LGBT Youth, hosted by Lakia Mondale (Queen of Boston Pride 2010) with a special performance by a 14 year old drag Sensation Miss Crystal Foxx and our special Guest from RuPaul’s Drag Race Stars Mystique Summers.” RuPaul’s Drag Race is a popular reality television competition on the gay network Logo.
What could be more festive for Valentine’s Day than a gay dance for sexually confused 13- and 14-year-old kids, complete with 14-year-olds in drag. If that’s not enough, the event promises complimentary HIV testing .
Strange how, when it comes to homosexuality and kids the media only seems to cover stories like the Boy Scouts ban, and ignores pubescent drag dance parties. And this is a side of the gay lifestyle we don’t see when ABC and NBC make shows like “Modern Family” and “The New Normal.”
Things like the BAGLY event undercut the media and gay lobby’s narrative that it’s discriminatory and hateful to suggest that aspects of homosexual behavior are inconsistent with the traditional focus of groups like the Boy Scouts.
Nothing to see here.
