Bozell Commends C-SPAN for Calling on Congress to Keep Health Care Talks Transparent
In a public letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Representative Boehner and Senators Reid and McConnell, Lamb challenged them to "open all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings, to electronic media coverage," citing the Obama pledge of transparency in health reform. "That's what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are," Obama stated while debating Hillary Clinton in Los Angeles on January 31, 2008.
Brent Bozell praised C-SPAN:
"Finally, a network that's not afraid to call out the liberal bullies in Congress who want to make healthcare policy behind closed doors. We commend Brian Lamb and C-SPAN for flexing their journalistic muscle and standing up for the transparency that Americans deserve.
"Other networks should take note of what C-SPAN has done - saying enough is enough - especially when the health and wellness of every American is at stake."
