Digital Communications Manager

The Digital Communications Manager leads the Digital Communications Team and works with the Chief Technology Officer to develop integrated strategies across all MRC digital platforms.  The Manager provides strategic vision and guidelines for Marketing, Fundraising, and IT to deliver maximum messaging impact, persuade potential and existing audiences, and increase membership and donations to support the mission of the Media Research Center.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Lead the Digital Communications Team which is responsible for all email messaging and online fundraising strategy.

    - Email messaging includes newsletters, grassroots messaging, and fundraising appeals. Oversight of all MRC outgoing emails to ensure maximum impact and mission focus.

    - Online fundraising strategy includes oversight of fundraising appeal strategy, schedule and messaging. Oversight of MRC microsites, banner ads, in house messaging, and Marketo integration for data capture and lead generation.

  • Create, design, and write fundraising emails and campaigns.

  • Develops and executes innovative strategies to drive revenue from and build relationships with members, supporters, and potential donors.

  • Responsible for communications to existing donors and potential donors.

  • Manage email list building activities.

  • Develop and maintain online programs and information flow that maximize revenue and strengthen relationships with donors.

  • Coordinate and manage digital communication and online fundraising campaigns.

    - establish plans, execution of plan, track and analyze performance and best practices.

  • Maintain up-to-date industry expertise on email, online fundraising, and web marketing.

  • Understand and demonstrate an interest in liberal media bias, political and policy communications, consumer marketing, strategy, and project management execution.

  • Mentor, educate, and train Digital Communication Team staff.

  • Understand and support the MRC mission and vision for America, and the team’s goals and objectives

Required Experience & Education: 
  • 4-5 years of digital communications and strategy experience.

  • Management skills including strategic planning, goal setting, budgeting, staffing, performance counseling, mentoring, and analytics evaluation.

  • 2 years experience with Marketo Marketing Automation System.

  • Creative and innovative thinker and problem solver. Superior writing and communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Drupal CMS, responsive emails, HTML, landing page design
