Mort Kondracke Strikes Again: Michele Bachmann 'A Loud Mouth'
What is it with Fox News Channel's Mort Kondracke and his brand of inside-the-Beltway liberal talking points attacks?
If you look close enough you might detect pattern – against conservative women. On Nov. 4, Kondracke went after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, calling her “a joke.” Four days later, Kondracke appears on the Fox News All-Stars panel segment of “Special Report” and was asked about the potential Republican House Conference chairman spot race between Reps. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, and Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
“Mort, there has been an issue made about the battle on the GOP conference chair. It's not a huge job, but it's third ranking of the GOP leadership against Jeb Hensarling of
Kondracke had another unflattering reaction, this time to Bachmann and her outspokenness on conservative issues.
“There is no difference on policy that I can tell between Hensarling and Bachmann at all. Bachmann is just a loud mouth,” Kondracke said. “And every once in a while, she gets caught in an outrageous comment, none of which I can remember at the moment. But, you know, Hensarling is conservative on everything. There is one issue. Right before the election, there were a bunch of polls that asked the electorate, do you want people to cooperate with one another and get stuff done or would you rather have them, you know, stick to the principle and get nothing done? And it was like 80/15 [percent]. What people want is get the problem solved.”
And Kondracke alleged that Bachmann's solid conservative stances were a bad influence because it encouraged being solidly conservative and discouraged “coming together.”
“Wait a minute – and the problem is you have to have some coming together in the middle between Obama and the Republicans in Congress,” Kondracke continued. “And these people oppose negotiation. You know if you're seen in the same room with a Democrat, you're committing treason.”
Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer politely backed away from Kondracke's assertions – not wanting to be tied to the attacks on Bachmann.
“Can I give out Mort's home address?” Krauthammer added. “I don't want the mail coming to me or to you.”
