Jan LaRue Joins CMI's Board of Advisors

“I'm pleased and honored to welcome Jan LaRue to CMI's Board of Advisors,” said Robert Knight, director of Media Research Center's Culture and Media Institute. “Jan is one of the foremost authorities in the nation on several legal issues, including marriage, religious freedom, pornography and freedom of speech.”

“Anybody who has seen Jan take on liberals, whether on TV, radio or in print, is well aware of her wit, wisdom and humor,” said MRC President L. Brent Bozell III. “She'll be a tremendous asset to CMI, and we look forward to featuring more of her writing on our Website. Her first column for CMI was posted March 16.”

A brief bio of Mrs. LaRue follows:

Jan LaRue was most recently Chief Counsel for Concerned Women for America (CWA), where she directed CWA's Legal Studies Department from 2002 to March, 2007.

She served as Senior Director of Legal Studies for the Family Research Council, Senior Counsel for the National Law Center for Children and Families in the California office, and Special Counsel with the Western Center for Law and Religious Freedom. She has also practiced criminal and juvenile law. She graduated summa cum laude from Trinity International University School of Law, and is a member of the California Bar.

Mrs. LaRue has testified before Congress and numerous state and local legislatures regarding pornography, sexually oriented businesses, and child safety bills. She has authored several amicus curiae briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts on numerous constitutional issues.

Mrs. LaRue co-authored a book, Protecting Your Child in an X-Rated World. Her legal writings have been published by St. John's Journal of Legal Commentary, University of Baltimore Law Forum, and Simon Greenleaf School of Law, and her opinion columns have appeared in newspapers across the country as well as Bloomberg, UPI, Associated Press, Scripps-Howard, HumanEventsOnline, and Townhall.com.

Mrs. LaRue has had extensive public speaking and debate experience, and has appeared on NBC's Today Show, the CBS Early Show, FOX News' The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes, ABC News, CNN, MSNBC's Buchanan and Press, CNBC, Court TV, Family News in Focus, Salem News Radio, USA Radio Network, Moody Broadcasting and many others.
