Dear Times Watch reader,
I really need your help to reach my annual goal to raise $5,000 from TimesWatch Tracker subscribers.
It's just a fraction of what it costs to research, write and produce TimesWatch Tracker. But it shows I have support for my efforts. Just click on this link to donate to Times Watch. So TimesWatch gets the credit, be sure to select "TimesWatch" from the "Program Designation" drop down menu.
Times Watch has just released a new special report, Supremely Slanted: How the Times Pounds Conservatives and Coddles Liberals on the Supreme Court.
In it, Times Watch analyzed the arc of coverage over the last two decades and the last seven Supreme Court justices, from Clarence Thomas's nomination in 1991 to Elena Kagan's confirmation in 2010, and found stark differences in how the Times reported on the four Justices nominated by Democrats versus the three nominated by Republicans.
Times Watch examined every substantive New York Times news story on each nomination. Among the findings were a stark pro-Democratic double standard in labeling:
* The Times demonstrated a 10-1 disparity in labeling "conservative" justices nominated by Republicans compared to "liberal" ones nominated by Democrats.
* The three Republican-nominated justices were labeled "conservative" 105 times, while the four justices nominated by Democrats were labeled liberal on a mere 14 occasions.
As you know, this sort of in-depth research takes both time and money. I don't ask for contributions very often, so I hope you will give serious consideration to this request. Just click on this link to donate to Times Watch. Be sure to select "TimesWatch" from the "Program Designation" drop down menu.
Or, if you prefer to donate via PayPal: https://firstname.lastname@example.org. Please type "TimesWatch" into the "Description" field at the top of the page.

New York Times Editor Bill Keller won't be sending us money anytime soon, so we're counting on you! Your gift will help Times Watch to continue providing the ammunition the conservative movement needs to fight the left's most powerful weapons: the liberal media.
